Everything you need to know about distributing, monetizing, and managing your catalog.

1. Getting Started & Account Setup

How do I distribute my music with The American Record?

Create an account on our distribution portal, enter your legal and artist details, and select your release format (Single, EP, Album, or Video). Upload your uncompressed audio, square cover artwork, and release metadata. Once submitted, our moderation team inspects your release within 12 to 48 working hours before delivering it to global streaming platforms.

What are the asset upload specifications?

Audio Files: Stereo WAV files only (16-bit or 24-bit, 44.1 kHz or higher). MP3s are not accepted for primary distribution.

Cover Artwork: Perfect square (minimum 3000 × 3000 pixels, up to 6000 × 6000 pixels) in JPG or PNG format, RGB color space. Artwork must not contain website URLs, social media handles, pricing tags, barcode graphics, or third-party logos.

Metadata: Primary artist name, featured artists, genre, language, track titles, and explicit content tags. Do not enter featured artists into the main track title field; use the designated "Featured Artist" field.

Are ISRC and UPC codes provided for free?

Yes. Every track and release automatically receives dedicated, industry-standard ISRC (International Standard Recording Code) and UPC (Universal Product Code) identifiers at zero additional cost. If you already own your own codes, you can enter them manually during upload.

2. Royalties, Payouts & Accounting

What is the royalty split and how does it work?

You retain 70% of Net Revenue received from Digital Service Providers (DSPs) and telecom carriers. The remaining 30% covers ingestion pipelines, platform maintenance, and automated DSP routing.

When do I get paid?

Digital Streaming & Downloads: Royalties are credited to your portal dashboard on a quarterly cycle once reconciled by platforms like Spotify, Apple Music, and Amazon Music (typically 45–90 days following the end of the streaming month).

Telecom CRBT / Caller Tunes: Mobile network statements (Jio, Airtel, Vi, BSNL) post within 90 days from regional carrier reconciliation.

What is the withdrawal process?

Once your balance reaches the minimum payout threshold (₹1,000 for domestic Indian accounts or $25 for international accounts), you can initiate a withdrawal directly to your registered bank account via NEFT/IMPS, UPI, or PayPal. Standard banking fees, currency exchange adjustments, and applicable taxes (such as GST or TDS) are deducted at the time of payout.

3. Distribution Reach & Deliveries

Which platforms will my music appear on?

Your catalog routes to 150+ global streaming platforms, download stores, and social video libraries, including:

  • Audio DSPs: Spotify, Apple Music, JioSaavn, Amazon Music, YouTube Music, TIDAL, Deezer, Wynk, and Pandora.
  • Social Audio Sync: Meta (Instagram Audio Library, Facebook Reels), TikTok, and YouTube Shorts.
  • Telecom CRBT: Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel, Vodafone Idea (Vi), and BSNL.
  • Video Syndication: VEVO, Apple Music Video, and TIDAL Video (on applicable video tiers).
How long does it take for a release to go live?

Inspection & Delivery: 12 to 48 working hours from our team.

Store Ingestion: Spotify, Apple Music, and JioSaavn typically ingest within 2 to 5 business days. To guarantee playlist pitching on Spotify for Artists and synchronized release dates across all territories, submit your release at least 14 business days in advance.

4. Rights, Ownership & AI Music Guidelines

Do I keep my master and publishing rights?

Yes. You retain 100% full ownership of your sound recordings, compositions, and visual assets. The American Record acts strictly as your commercial delivery aggregator and administration partner.

Is there a mandatory lock-in period?

No. There is no multi-year lock-in. You have the right to request a takedown, delisting, or complete de-delivery of your catalog at any time directly through your dashboard. Takedown notices are pushed to DSPs within 7 business days.

Can I distribute AI-generated or AI-assisted music?

Yes, under strict compliance criteria:

  • Commercial Rights: The track must be generated using an active, verified paid commercial subscription from the generative AI platform.
  • No Impersonation: Vocal clones, unauthorized synthetic voices of real artists, and deepfake likenesses are strictly barred and subject to immediate permanent takedown.
  • Mandatory Metadata Tagging: You must declare the AI contribution (Master, Stem, Vocal, or Assist) during the upload workflow.
  • No Catalog Spam: Flooding platforms with bulk, repetitive, or micro-loop ambient files to farm algorithmic pools triggers fraud flags and account bans.

5. Fraud Prevention & Account Integrity

What triggers an artificial streaming strike?

Engaging with third-party promotional services that guarantee playlist placement or stream volumes, using bot farms, click rings, or automated looping tools violates DSP integrity policies. If downstream partners (such as Spotify or Apple Music) flag a track for synthetic traffic, that release will be quarantined, associated royalties forfeited to cover platform fines, and the account risk permanent blacklisting.

How do I submit an appeal?

If your track was flagged or taken down due to a copyright strike or traffic anomaly you believe is inaccurate, file an appeal within 7 calendar days by emailing contact.theamericanrecord@gmail.com with your release UPC, DSP links, promotional invoices, and organic marketing proof.

6. Official Artist Channels & Marketing Tools

How do I claim my Spotify for Artists and Apple Music profiles?

Once your first release is approved and delivered, use your provided artist URI or release link to claim and verify your profile directly on Spotify for Artists and Apple Music for Artists.

Can you set up a YouTube Official Artist Channel (OAC)?

Yes. If you operate an artist YouTube channel with at least three official music releases distributed through our platform, you can submit an OAC upgrade request through your dashboard to merge your personal channel with your Topic channel.
